Akeelah Bertram is a visual artist with a diverse heritage. The shifting borders of her identity have often found themselves at odds with the linear systems adopted by society to derive meaning from others/ the lived experience.

Inspired by phenomenology, metaphysics and structuralism, her work aims to situate audiences in unfamiliar environments in an attempt to escape the codes and categories so heavily relied upon in everyday life.
